How to disable Microsoft Edge permanently from running in the background?

Go to Settings → System and Performance in Edge → turn off “Continue running background extensions and apps when Microsoft Edge is closed.”

You can also disable Edge startup from Task Manager → Startup apps.
 
Use these procedures to permanently stop Microsoft Edge from operating in the background:

Launch Microsoft Edge → Navigate to System and Performance → Settings. Disable "Continue running background apps when Edge is closed."

If Edge is listed in Task Manager → Startup, turn it off.
