There are instances when games downloaded on my Xbox Series X have not completed their downloading or they display an error. I have already attempted to restart the console and check my internet to no avail. Has anyone faced this before? How can these download failures be resolved?

You can try clearing the cache by turning off your Xbox completely, unplugging it for a few minutes, and then restarting. Also, make sure your storage isn’t full and try pausing and resuming the download. Sometimes, re-downloading the game helps too.

By turning off your Xbox entirely, unplugging it for a little while, and then restarting, you can attempt to clear the cache. Additionally, check that your storage isn't full and try stopping and starting the download again. Redownloading the game can also be helpful at times.

I’ve had this happen a few times — here’s what usually fixes it:
  • Restart your Xbox first, that clears most issues.
  • Check your internet connection or try a wired one.
  • Go to Settings → System → Updates & Downloads → Clear local saved games (don’t worry, cloud saves stay).
  • If it’s stuck, cancel and restart the download.
  • Worst case, do a power cycle: hold the power button for 10 seconds, unplug for a minute, then start again.
That usually gets downloads working again for me.

To fix Xbox Series X download errors, restart your console, check your internet connection, and clear the cache by holding the power button for 10 seconds. Ensure Xbox Live is online, and try pausing and restarting the download. If issues persist, reset your console (keep games and apps).

In order to resolve download errors on the Xbox Series X, the first thing to do is to restart the console and stop all the other downloads in progress. Should this not help, then proceeding to clear the download queue and performing a power cycle by unplugging the console, followed by checking your network connection as well as the hardwired versus wireless option will be the next steps.
