I keep seeing the “Unauthorized User API Key Error in Cursor" when trying to run queries. I’m wondering if this means my API key is invalid or has expired. Has anyone else encountered the “Unauthorized User API Key” Error in Cursor and found a way to fix it? I’m looking for step-by-step solutions to get Cursor working properly again.

Same here. It’s been happening for two days now and it’s making the IDE basically useless. I’ve checked my Anthropic dashboard and the key is definitely active, so I have no idea why I keep getting the Unauthorized User API Key Error in Cursor.

  1. Check your API key is correct and fully copied.
  2. Ensure it’s active and not expired.
  3. Confirm you’re logged into the correct account.
  4. Regenerate a new API key and update it in Cursor settings.
  5. Restart Cursor.

To fix the “Unauthorized User API Key” error in Cursor, first check that your API key is correct and hasn’t expired or been revoked. Go to your OpenAI (or other provider) dashboard, generate a new API key if needed, and update it inside Cursor’s settings under API configuration. Make sure there are no extra spaces when pasting the key and that you’re logged into the correct account with active billing. Restart Cursor after updating the key to apply the changes.
