When logging into my Microsoft account I was redirected to aka.ms/mfasetup. I want to understand why aka.ms/mfasetup appears and how to complete aka.ms/mfasetup for account verification. Is aka.ms/mfasetup required for multi-factor authentication?

aka.ms/mfasetup is a Microsoft link to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). It adds extra security by requiring a second verification method—like a phone, email, or authenticator app—along with your password. You log in, choose a method, verify it, and afterward, signing in needs both your password and the second factor.

aka.ms/mfasetup is a shortcut link from Microsoft that takes you to the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) setup page for your account. It works by guiding you to add an extra layer of security such as a phone number, authenticator app, or verification code so that when you sign in, you must confirm your identity with both your password and a second method
