I have some old DVDs and a new Blu-ray player, but I’m unsure if they are compatible. I don’t want to damage anything by trying. Can someone confirm if DVDs can be played in a Blu-ray player?

Yes, Blu-ray players are backward compatible, so they can play DVDs without any issue. I’ve used mine for old DVD collections, and it works just like a regular DVD player, sometimes even with slightly better upscaling quality depending on the player.

Yes, most Blu-ray players are backward-compatible, so they can play standard DVDs without any issue. In fact, many Blu-ray players can also upscale DVD video quality to look better on modern TVs, though they won’t reach true Blu-ray resolution.

Yes, DVDs can be played in a Blu-ray player.

Why: Blu-ray players are backward compatible, so they support DVDs (and often CDs too).
