Can PS4s play PS3 games?

I’m wondering if PS4s play PS3 games because I still own several PS3 titles and don’t want them to go to waste. Can PS4s play PS3 games using discs, or is it only possible through streaming services? I’d really like clarification on whether PS4s play PS3 games at all.

Yes, PS3 game discs, downloads cannot be played on PS4 consoles since the systems are based on different hardware and architecture. Nevertheless, there are PS3 games that can be streamed online on PlayStation Plus Premium which allows you to play certain older games online without the physical disc.
