I keep seeing fye used in comment sections and captions, is it basically a play on "fire" (if something is really good) or is there another meaning it has? It seems to be very much in individual use; can anyone explain what it means normally and give sentences on which it is used?

Well, "FYE" is an abbreviation of fire implying that something is very good, cool or impressive. It is commonly applied in music, fashion or even comments in social media.

Yes, FYE is a slang word which comes about out of the word fire wherein something is really good or impressive or exciting. It is commonly used in music, fashion or even social media to applaud something. E.g. that new Drake igne it 🔥 could be translated as that new Drake is amazing. It is another instance; your outfit is fye = your outfit looks great! Although fye is in practice a mere stylized form of fire (in either pronunciation or spelling), it may sometimes be an acronym (such as FYE = For Your Entertainment, a brand of retail store) but in a comment or caption, it nearly always only signifies awesome or lit.

Indeed, "fye" is a common slang term that is typically a pronunciation-based spelling of "fire." It indicates that something is outstanding, fantastic, or really cool.

For instance:

"That new song is fye!"
"You look really hot today."
"This entire video is fye!"
