How do I know what generation my iPad is?

I want to check the generation of my iPad, but not able to find it. Is there anyone who can help me?
I once wanted to buy a new case for my iPad, but I had no clue which handset I owned. After facing an embarrassing moment, it turns out that checking the model of any device isn’t that hard.

Here’s what I learned–

  1. Look at the Back Cover: The simplest way to check the model number of your device is to flip it over and locate the model number starting with A and a combination of four digits. For example, A9087.
  2. Open the Settings App on Your Device: If the model number is faded away, take your device and navigate to the Settings app >> General >> About >> Model Number.
  3. Match the Model Number Online: Once you know the model number, visit the official Apple support page and find out which generation of your iPad corresponds with the number.
  4. Visit Apple’s Look-Up Page: Fortunately, Apple has a look-up page on its website to help its users easily locate their device generation from the model number.

Consequently, since I’ve learned the generation of my iPad, it's become quite easy for me to keep it updated and buy the latest accessories.

To find your iPad’s generation, go to Settings > General > About and look for the Model Number (tap it once to see a number starting with “A”). Then match that number on Apple’s website or a quick online search to find the exact generation. For example, A2270 is the iPad 8th Gen.
