How do I turn on FN lock on my keyboard?

I want to enable FN lock to use function keys without pressing FN each time. How can I turn on FN lock, and does it stay active after restarting Windows? Any tips for keyboards with hidden FN lock features?

To turn on Fn Lock, press the Fn key + Esc key on most keyboards. This toggles the function keys (F1–F12) between standard functions and special actions like volume or brightness.
On some laptops, you may need to enable it in BIOS/UEFI settings or use a different shortcut. Look for a lock icon on the Esc or Fn key for guidance.

Most keyboards have the Fn key and Esc key, press the two keys together to enable Fn Lock. This puts standard mode into the F1 keys (F12) keys. In other laptops you might have to activate it in the BIOS or by Fn + Caps Lock depending on the key board manufacturer and model.

Most keyboards have FN lock and to activate it, press Fn and Esc at the same time. This switches the Function (F1–F12) keys into regular function keys, without the Fn. In other laptops, you can also enable FN lock, which is available in the BIOS/UEFI settings, under keyboard options.
