How do TikTok coins work and what can you actually do with them?

I’m confused about tiktok coins and how they’re used on the app. What’s the real purpose of buying them, and how do creators benefit?

So basically, TikTok coins are like the in-app currency. You buy them with real money and then you can give virtual gifts to creators during their live streams. Creators can then convert those gifts into “diamonds,” which can finally be cashed out as real money. It’s basically TikTok’s way of letting fans support creators directly.

Honestly, I bought coins once thinking I’d get some kind of superpower or secret feature… turns out all I got was the ability to throw a pizza at someone on a live stream 😂. But yeah, it’s all about supporting creators, and if you find a streamer you love, it kinda feels worth it.

Wait, so let me get this straight… I spend $10 on coins, give it to a creator, and they only get like half of it in real money? That seems kinda scammy if you think about it. I get supporting people, but TikTok is definitely taking a cut.

Ugh, people keep saying coins are a “fun way to support creators,” but honestly, most creators aren’t even getting that much for it. TikTok makes bank off this. Like yeah, give a creator a gift if you want, but don’t pretend this is some charity thing.
Reply in thread: Well, if you don’t like it, don’t buy coins? Some of us actually rely on those gifts to earn money. Not everything is about TikTok being evil lol.

I just treat it like a small tip jar. If a creator is making me laugh or inspiring me, I’ll toss a few coins their way. You don’t need a ton to make a difference, and honestly, seeing them react live when you send a gift is hilarious sometimes.
