How To Deactivate Messenger?

Can someone help me with how to deactivate Messenger? I’ve been trying to figure it out but can’t seem to find the right steps. Any advice would be appreciated!

You can deactivate Messenger, but only if your Facebook account is deactivated. To do this:

  2. Go to Account SettingsYour Facebook Information.
  3. Choose Deactivation and Deletion.
  4. Select Deactivate Account and follow the prompts.
Once your Facebook account is deactivated, Messenger will also be deactivated.

Here’s how I usually deactivate Messenger:
  1. Open the Messenger app and tap your profile picture in the top left.
  2. Scroll down and tap Account Settings → Personal Information → Account Ownership and Control → Deactivation and Deletion.
  3. Select Deactivate Messenger and follow the prompts.
  4. Confirm your password and tap Deactivate.
Keep in mind, you must deactivate your Facebook account first—Messenger can’t be deactivated on its own if your Facebook account is still active.
