To permanently delete your Telegram account, you must use Telegram’s deactivation page (not just uninstall the app). Go to my.telegram.org/auth?to=delete, enter your phone number, get the confirmation code in the Telegram app, then follow the prompts and confirm deletion. Once done, your account, messages, contacts, media, and all cloud-stored data are permanently removed from Telegram’s servers and cannot be restored this action is irreversible. After deletion, you can sign up again with the same number, but it starts fresh and may be blocked for a few days before reuse. Telegram does not offer a true “temporary deactivate” option; the closest thing is logging out or setting the self-destruct (auto-delete) timer in Settings → Privacy & Security so your account will auto-delete after a period of inactivity (e.g., 1–12 months) if you simply stop using it.
