My computer shows CPU over temperature error and shuts down. How to fix CPU over temperature error?

An over-temperature error in the CPU means that the processor is too hot. To solve this problem, first, switch off the computer and check whether the cooling fan is functioning correctly. You can clean the fan, heat sink, and air vents using compressed air. It is also important to ensure that the computer gets enough ventilation and that there is no obstruction. You can also apply new thermal paste to the heat sink and the CPU in case the paste dries up.

I just wanted to add my two cents to this thread, I was experiencing a similar issue with my laptop and found that cleaning dust out of the vents and using a cooling pad made a huge difference, it dropped my CPU temperature by about 10 degrees and eliminated the error message, it's worth noting that a BIOS update also helped, but I'm not sure if it was directly related to the temperature issue.
