How to select and delete in windows 11 gallery?

In the Windows 11 Photos/Gallery app I can’t figure out the fastest way to select a bunch of pictures and delete them. Is there a multi select mode or keyboard combo (Ctrl/Shift) that works reliably? I’d like to delete dozens without opening each file.

If you are in the Photos/Gallery app grid (thumbnails) you are able to multi select; just like File Explorer, click one photo then Shift-click to a continuous range or Ctrl-click to click single photos. There's also a Select/checkbox button in the app's toolbar (on the top right) that turns selection checkboxes on or off for each thumbnail use and select the ones you wanted and press Delete or click on the trash icon. Tip: When you press Ctrl+A, select all of the photos that you can see. Remember deleted pictures will go to the Recycle Bin (as will pictures saved on OneDrive if of that type).

If Photos application is annoying, open the folder in File Explorer (right click on the folder and select not open in File Explorer) thumbnails support on select selection by ctrl./shift and Delete. It's usually faster with dozens of files and is visible for what is going to the Recycle Bin or OneDrive.

You don't have to click open every photo like it's a tinder profile.😂😝 @open photos in grid^{Ctrl + Click select the picture you don't like or Shift-Select a block of pictures then hit delete. banjo`. CTRL+V for your patience however, just paste them directly in the Recycle Bin.

If shortcuts of selection are not working:
1) be sure you are looking at thumbnails (not the one image viewer)
2) update Photos app from Microsoft Store
3) check if the images are in a synced OneDrive collection (deleting may remove it from cloud too)
4) if you must use File Explorer and select and delete. Always remember to double check the Recycle Bin before emptying.
