How to Send Certified Mail?

I need to send some important documents and I’m not sure how to send certified mail correctly. Do I have to go to the post office, or can it be done online? Also, how do I track it once it’s sent? First time doing this, so any guidance is appreciated.
 
To send certified mail, visit your local post office, fill out a certified mail form, attach it to your envelope, and pay the required postage. You’ll receive a receipt with a tracking number for proof of mailing and delivery.
 
To send Certified Mail with United States Postal Service:

  1. Prepare your letter.
  2. Fill out PS Form 3800 (Certified Mail receipt).
  3. Attach it to the envelope.
  4. Pay postage and certified fee at the post office.
  5. Keep the receipt for tracking and proof of delivery.
