To silence any incoming alert as quickly as possible, simply press your palm on the display three seconds (when it has the setting Cover to Mute set to on). To silence over 30 seconds long, press the side button to Control Center, and then tap the bell icon to go to Silent Mode (no sound, haptics still on) or the crescent moon to go to Do Not Disturb (no sound, no haptics).
