How to Stream Netflix on Discord With Friends?

I’m trying to figure out how to stream netflix on discord so I can watch shows with friends, but I keep running into black screens or audio issues. Is this related to browser settings, hardware acceleration, or Discord permissions? Any working methods would be helpful.

Hardware acceleration causes the black screen almost all the time. Screen recording is blocked by DRM protection used by Netflix. To remedy it, visit your browser preferences (Chrome, Edge, or Firefox), and look for Hardware Acceleration and set it off. Close the browser and restart it again and attempt to share. This tends to force the GPU to encode the video in a format that Discord is able to capture.

Oh, there is one more, another individual realizing that the multi-billion dollar streaming giant does not necessarily want you to share their content free of charge. It's not a bug, it's a feature. But still, disable the acceleration and hope your CPU is not melting on its own, trying to encode the video by its own.

As the screen blackened I simply informed my friends that it was a cinematic noir experience. They didn't buy it. In reality, however, the hardware acceleration trick is the only solution. Another thing to note is that you have to add your browser as a Game in the Activity settings of Discord, otherwise, you will receive the video but no sound, which is even worse than no video.

On a Mac, you are practically unlucky with Safari. You must use Chrome or firefox. Safari does not even allow you to switch off the acceleration any longer due to the degree to which the DRM is embedded in the OS. This involves simply downloading a second browser that is designed to be used in the watch party and simply leaving the settings adjusted there.

Is it even worth the hassle? Before you perfect the settings, the audio is three seconds behind schedule and one of the people is buffering their internet. And just watch the games with a special watch party application or just any other way. This is not the purpose of Discord, and the DRM game of cat and mouse is tiresome.

Step 1: Open Chrome Settings. Step 2: System. Step 3: Disable the option of hardware acceleration when it is available. Step 4: Add Chrome as a discord game. Step 5: Profit. It works each and every time.

I feel your pain. I wasted two hours attempting to correct this in the name of a birthday stream and we ended up just counting down PLAY, 3, 2, 1, on our individual screens like it is the year 2005. I will make the hardware acceleration patch this evening, though, why does it have to be such a complex thing to simply sit with the homies and watch a sitcom?

In fact, it is not only the browser. The settings of Discord themselves should also be checked in the Advanced section. It has a Hardware Acceleration switch as well. In some cases, the only solution to the overlay frustrating the video stream is to disable it in both locations. However, also, it might be a good idea to run Discord with Administrator privileges; with this, the app will be granted greater authority to monitor what is actually going on your screen.

Still, they use browsers to do so? Just use the "Hey Netflix" bot. It manages the synchronization and the invites much better than the regular screen share. It is officially maintained and does not get around the majority of the black screen of death problems since it is a direct integration.

When you begin to share, make certain that you are not in Full Screen mode on Netflix. In other cases, Discord does not connect to the window when it is already maximized. You can also open a stream when the Netflix is in a windowed tab and then maximize it when you know your friends can see the "Tudum" logo.
