Is the Windows 11 Update KB5064081 Login Screen Passkeys Issue Affecting Others Too?

After installing the update, I noticed problems related to windows 11 update kb5064081 login screen passkeys. Is this a known bug, and are there any official fixes yet?

Yeah I noticed this too. After the update, my passkeys sometimes just vanish and fallback to my PIN. It’s annoying. I haven’t seen an official acknowledgment from MS, but checking for optional updates sometimes helps.

It appears the issue stems from the new authentication API changes in KB5064081. Passkey providers rely on updated WinAuth modules, and if they’re mismatched it breaks login. Rollback or wait for a patch is your only fix so far.

Wait you mean passkeys DON’T work? I thought that was the whole point of this update?! I’m desperately clicking around right now. Someone help me understand what to do.

Until Microsoft issues a fix, you can use DISM and SFC scans to ensure system files weren’t corrupted by the update. If problems persist, clean uninstall of KB5064081 via recovery options seems to restore passkeys.

I spent two hours thinking my keyboard was possessed. Turns out it was the windows 11 update kb5064081 login screen passkeys bug. Rolled it back and everything works like before.

I know some folks here defending Microsoft updates, but this one is legitimately glitchy. Passkeys are supposed to be smooth. When basic login breaks, that’s not “optimized”.
