I’ve recently noticed a green dot appearing on Snapchat, but I’m not entirely sure what it means. Does it indicate that someone is online, or is it related to stories, chats, or notifications? I’d appreciate it if someone could explain its purpose

The green dot you’re seeing on Snapchat indicates that a person is currently active and online on the platform. This feature is part of Snapchat's "Active Status" feature, which shows a green dot next to a friend's name when they are actively using the app.

Green dot mean on Snapchat- that the person is currently active. So, it is an activity indicator, because now a days there are several profiles on social media but most of them are spam or fake, so mitigate this kind of spam, Snapchat has introduced this activity indicator.

A green indicator located next to a Snapchat user's name in the app indicates current activity. Users who have their activity indicator enabled on Snapchat demonstrate present usage of the application. When you message someone on Snapchat and notice their name includes a green dot it means they will probably answer without delay because they remain active on their account.

The green dot on Snapchat means that a user has been recently active on the app. It's a feature called the "Activity Indicator" that lets your friends know you've been using Snapchat.

Here's what you should know about the green dot:

  • It appears next to a friend's avatar:You'll see it in places like your friend list or when you're viewing their profile.

  • It indicates recent activity:The green dot suggests that your friend has been active on Snapchat within a certain timeframe.

  • It's not real-time: The dot doesn't necessarily mean they're online right now. It just means they've been active recently.

  • It can be turned off:Users can disable the Activity Indicator in their Snapchat settings if they don't want to share their activity status.
Keep in mind:

  • The green dot is not the only way to tell if someone is online: You can also check their Snap Score, Stories, or Snap Map location (if they have location sharing enabled).

  • The green dot can be misleading: It might stay visible for a while even after someone has stopped using the app.

The green dot on Snapchat means that user is active on app or online. A small green dot appears next to the friend’s Bitmoji or name in the Chat or Friends section when they are currently browsing, chatting or viewing stories. This feature gives the users a feeling of knowing that your friends are available for real-time interactions. Nevertheless, the privacy settings allow users to decide who will be able to see their activity. As it stands, to make your active status invisible, you need to enable Ghost Mode in settings to hide from others when you’re online as well.
