I recently heard someone mention ent linux in a discussion about enterprise systems. I’m not very familiar with it and couldn’t find clear explanations. When I searched for ent linux, the results were technical and confusing. Can someone explain in simple terms what it is and where it’s typically used?

I think the explanation of EntLinux in the original post is a bit vague, I'd like to add some clarity. EntLinux is essentially a Linux-based operating system that was developed by Enterasys Networks, a networking company, for use in their routers and switches. It's not a widely used operating system outside of the networking space, but it's commonly used in legacy Enterasys devices for management and configuration purposes.

Enterprise Linux (Ent Linux) refers to commercially supported Linux distributions designed for stability, security, and long-term support. Examples include Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SUSE Linux Enterprise. It’s commonly used in data centers, cloud environments, enterprise servers, databases, and mission-critical business applications.
