I’ve heard the term click farm but not sure what it means. Can someone explain how click farms work and why they’re used online?

A click farm is an operation where large groups of people or devices generate fake clicks, likes, follows, or views to artificially inflate engagement. Businesses or influencers often buy these services to appear more popular, even though the activity is fraudulent and violates most platform policies.

A click farm is a business that uses many low-paid workers or automated devices to repeatedly tap, like, or follow online content. Companies use them to boost app rankings, social-media credibility, or ad revenue. The interactions look real but don’t represent genuine user interest.

A click farm is essentially a fraud network designed to manipulate online metrics. Dozens or hundreds of phones or accounts perform repetitive actions to trick algorithms into promoting certain apps, products, or profiles. This creates misleading engagement and can harm digital marketing integrity.

A click farm operates by generating fake digital activity at scale—often from rooms filled with smartphones or through automated scripts. Its goal is to inflate statistics like followers, views, or ad clicks. While it can boost visibility temporarily, it’s unethical and often results in account penalties.
