I need to change some startup settings but can’t figure out how to enter bios windows 11. Are there reliable methods that work on most laptops and desktops?
The safest and most universal way is through Advanced Startup. Go to Settings → System → Recovery → Advanced startup → Restart now. From there, choose Troubleshoot → Advanced options → UEFI Firmware Settings. This avoids timing issues with key presses and works on most modern Windows 11 systems.
If Fast Startup is enabled, traditional keys like DEL or F2 may not register properly. Using Windows’ built-in UEFI reboot is the least risky method because it hands off control cleanly from the OS to firmware without interrupting POST sequences.
Honestly, I struggled with this too
Pressing F2 never worked for me. The Windows recovery option was the only thing that actually got me into BIOS. Took me way longer than it should’ve.
On laptops, it really depends on the brand. Lenovo uses F1 or F2, HP likes ESC → F10, Dell is usually F2. But yeah, if you don’t want to guess, Windows recovery mode is the safest route.
Sure, just spam DEL like it’s 2008… oh wait, Fast Boot exists now. Use the Windows method unless you enjoy staring at a loading screen wondering where your BIOS went.
No matter how you enter BIOS, don’t change settings you don’t understand. Entering BIOS is safe changing voltages or boot modes randomly is not. Take photos before modifying anything.
If you’re just changing boot order or secure boot stuff, the Windows 11 recovery way is totally fine. I use it all the time and haven’t had a single issue so far.
