Why am I seeing “Message Blocking is Active” on my phone?

I keep getting a “Message Blocking is Active” error when I try to send texts. Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it?

That message usually means your carrier or the recipient’s carrier is blocking texts. It can happen if:
  • You’ve blocked the number (or they blocked you).
  • Your text plan expired or you don’t have messaging enabled.
  • You’re using the wrong short code or number format.
  • The carrier has a temporary service issue.
I’d start by restarting your phone, checking message settings, and calling your carrier to make sure messaging isn’t disabled on your account.

You might see “Message Blocking is Active” on your phone if your carrier or device settings are preventing text messages from being sent or received. This can happen due to account restrictions, unpaid bills, parental controls, or specific blocking settings. Contact your carrier or check your messaging settings to fix it.

The reason why you see Message Blocking is Active is because the messaging is blocked on your account, your carrier has blocked the messaging or the person you are sending the message has blocked you. Get in touch with your carrier to repair it.
