Why Is My Monitor Showing Static Lines?

My monitor has started displaying flickering or static lines across the screen. I’m not sure if it’s a hardware problem or something like a loose cable. What steps should I take to diagnose and fix this? Hoping it’s not serious.

Sticking lines on a computer monitor display typically point towards problems with either the hardware itself or the connections involved. Some common reasons behind sticking lines include loose or broken wires, malfunctioning graphic cards, old or incompatible drivers, and even a faulty monitor screen itself.

Static lines on a monitor usually point to a connection or hardware issue. I’ve run into this myself, and most of the time it was just a loose or faulty HDMI/VGA cable, so try reseating or swapping it first. If that doesn’t help, check your GPU drivers or test the monitor on another system to rule out a graphics card problem. If the lines appear even on the monitor’s menu or with different devices, the panel itself might be failing.
