Why is my PS5 not connecting to the internet?

The inability of your PS5 to connect online stems from Wi-Fi problems combined with problems in your router and outages affecting the PlayStation Network. The resolution includes router rebooting and PSN status checks together with wired connection testing and PS5 network reset procedures.

If your PS5 shows an error message while setting up a network connection, try these fixes:
  • Restart Router & PS5 – Power cycle both devices.
  • Check PSN & Internet – Ensure PlayStation Network and your ISP are not experiencing issues.
  • Use Wired Connection – Try an Ethernet cable for a stable connection.
  • Manually Set DNS – Use Google’s DNS (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4).
  • Reset Network Settings – Go to Settings > Network > Reset Network Settings.
  • Update System Software – Ensure your PS5 has the latest update.

If your PS5 isn't connecting to the internet, here are a few quick fixes you can try:
  1. Check your Wi-Fi details: Make sure you're using the right Wi-Fi name and password. A simple typo can mess things up!
  2. Restart everything: Turn off your PS5 and your router, wait a minute, then turn them back on. This can often solve connectivity issues.
  3. Check the distance: If your PS5 is far from the router, try moving it closer or consider using a wired connection for a stronger signal.
If these steps don’t work, you might want to reset the network settings on your PS5.
