Can Older Systems Using GeForce 7600GS Intel 915 Chipset Still Run Modern Software?

I found an old PC setup with geforce 7600gs intel 915 chipset and was wondering if it’s still usable today. Are there any supported operating systems or lightweight apps that run well on this hardware?

Yes, it’s usable but only for very basic tasks. Lightweight Linux distros like Lubuntu, antiX, or Puppy Linux can run decently. Don’t expect modern browsers to feel smooth though.

I revived a similar system last year. antiX Linux worked surprisingly well for file management and light browsing. Firefox was painful, but LibreOffice was okay.

Driver support is the biggest issue. Even lightweight apps are getting heavier every year, so expectations should be very low.
