Do Pinterest collections need to be public, or can they be kept private?

Hi everyone, I’m trying to organize my ideas on Pinterest but I’m not sure if collections have to be public by default. I’d prefer to keep some of them private or limited to certain people. Has anyone done this before or knows how the privacy settings work?

You can actually keep your Pinterest collections private, which is really useful if you're planning something personal like a surprise party or a wedding. When you create a new board, you have the option to set it to secret, which means only you and anyone you invite can see it. You can also set it to private, where you can choose who to share it with, so it's not publicly visible. To do this, just click on the three dots on your board and go to settings, then choose who can see your board, it's pretty straightforward and gives you control over who sees your collections.

On Pinterest, people call "collections" of items boards. These boards may be public or private. Public boards will show to everyone and may come up in search results whereas private boards (also called secret boards) are only shown to you and any of the persons you invite. This feature allows you to work on projects, save inspirations, or organize materials secretly. Besides that, you can change the visibility of a board anytime in the settings. Also, if you are a parent or a younger user, by keeping the boards private, you can have more control over what is shared and who can see the saved content.

There are two types of Pinterest boards or collections; the first type is public boards, and the other is secret boards. Secret boards refer to those boards that can be kept private by turning on the “secret board” option; this way, only you and those who have been invited to collaborate can view them.
