Has 9anime Been Shut Down Permanently?

I have been observing quite a few new sites being launched in place of the 9anime name to lure back customers since the huge wave of sites being shut down last year. I wonder whether they are only scammers out to ride on the fame of the old brand or whether the original developers have made a low profile re-entry under a new infrastructure. I had used it as my default place to find high bitrate subtitles and a clean interface, and the existing options still mostly have not been as consistent. I would be curious to know whether there is any reputable heir that has the same quality and huge library like the one we had before the rebranding.

The "See You Again" music video on the homepage was the final nail in the coffin. Once they put up that goodbye message and told everyone to go legal, you knew the original devs were hanging it up for good. It’s a ghost town now.
