Many websites load slowly and eventually show err_connection_timed_out. Has anyone found reliable ways to fix this—like DNS changes, clearing cache, or router adjustments?
To fix ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT, first check your internet connection and try clearing your browser's cache and cookies or disabling extensions. If the problem persists, you can resolve it by flushing your DNS, changing DNS servers, or temporarily disabling your firewall/antivirus and proxy settings.
I had the same headache last month. Changing my DNS to 1.1.1.1 / 8.8.8.8 legit solved it instantly. Windows was still trying to ping some weird default DNS. Also make sure your IPv6 is enabled sounds random but it actually fixed loading issues for me.
Bro, before doing any rocket-science stuff, just restart your router.
No seriously mine was timing out every 20 minutes until I did a full power cycle. Unplugged it for 30 seconds, plugged back in, boom. Chrome stopped throwing tantrums.
Not trying to be that guy, but clearing your Chrome cache doesn’t fix this 90% of the time. People do it because it feels productive lol.
What actually worked for me:
Reset TCP/IP with netsh int ip reset
Flushed DNS
Disabled my VPN
After that, sites loaded normally.
Could be your ISP throttling or your network adapter acting up. I switched to a USB WiFi adapter temporarily and everything magically worked. My built-in adapter was basically dying silently. Chrome errors were just a symptom.
Nahhh don’t listen to @above, it’s not always your router or DNS.
For me the problem was Windows Firewall randomly blocking connections after an update. I allowed Chrome again in Firewall settings and the error disappeared.
Microsoft really needs to chill with these stealth updates
