How can I tell if my phone is hacked or compromised?

My phone has been acting weird battery drains fast, apps open randomly, and I’ve seen unknown messages. I haven’t rooted or jailbroken it. Want a checklist of signs to look for, free tools or settings to scan, and immediate steps to secure the device if it’s compromised.

Rapid battery drain, inexplicable overheating, sluggish performance, unexpectedly high data usage, strange pop-ups or apps, and unexpected outgoing calls, texts, or bill charges are some warning indicators.
