How do I fix the CPU fan speed detection error on my PC?

I keep getting a cpu fan speed detection error every time I boot up. Has anyone figured out what causes this and the safest way to fix it? Is it a BIOS issue, a faulty fan, or a sensor problem?

Sounds like classic and stock CPU fan RPM not being picked up correctly. The initial step is to verify whether or not the CPU fan is indeed plugged in the CPUFAN connector and not the CHAFAN connector. BIOS also and check CPU Fan Monitoring on and what RPM it is operating. When the fan is aged or dusty, then the RPM will decrease to the limit and the warning will be activated. It is normally fixed by cleaning or replacing the fan.

I had the same issue on my Ryzen build. Turned out the fan’s tach wire (the yellow one) was loose. Reseated it properly and the error disappeared. Also sometimes BIOS updates reset fan profiles, so just check if your fan curve isn’t set too low on startup.

Bro, I guarantee this mistake made me scare the most among all horror games. I believed that my PC was going to explode. It so happened that the fan was merely dirty AF. I wiped it off with a makeup brush (judgment free) and poof that is all. All she has to do is determine whether the fan is turning normally: in some instances, it is literally dust that is the villain.

Well, it is practically never any good fan. The blame of people continues to be on the BIOS as it is some ghost in the machine. When the sensor of the RPM falls under say 300 500, the motherboard causes the error. Change the fan and quit cogitating.

Nah bro, that's not always true. Some of the mother boards throw this error when the fan is perfectly fine, especially on old ASUS related mother boards. It was necessary to disable the CPU Fan Low Limit in BIOS to prevent it. Well, it is BIOS being dumb sometimes. Don't spread half info.😅
