How Do I Solve the ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED Error When Browsing?

My browser shows err_connection_closed randomly and stops loading pages. Is this a network, DNS, or browser issue? What steps actually work to resolve it?

Bro I had the exact same issue last week. 90% of the time it turned out to be my DNS acting stupid. I switched to Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) and boom everything started loading instantly. Clear your browser cache once too. Chrome gets moody for no reason sometimes.

It’s usually not DNS. People blame DNS for everything. 😂
For me, my router was overheating. I restarted it + removed some old network profiles on Windows and the error disappeared. Check your network adapter drivers also—they break after Windows updates.

I solved it by… threatening my WiFi.
Jk, but honestly, Chrome just randomly decides “no internet today.” Try disabling VPN/Proxy if you use one. Mine caused constant ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED until I turned it off.

Stop telling everyone to change DNS. That’s not a magic fix.
This error literally means the server closed the connection, so it could be the website itself. Try opening the same page in Edge or Firefox. If it works there, your browser profile might be corrupted make a new Chrome profile.

One solid method that worked for me:
  • Reset TCP/IP
  • Flush DNS
  • Disable QUIC protocol in Chrome (chrome://flags → search “QUIC”).
After that, the error never came back. Feels like Chrome pushes weird networking experiments in the background.
