How does the fortnite item shop rotation actually work each day?

I check the Fortnite item shop almost daily, but I’ve never fully understood how the rotation system works. Sometimes certain skins return quickly, and other times they disappear for months. Is there a pattern behind how the Fortnite item shop updates, or is it completely random? Also, has anyone noticed differences during events or special collaborations? I’m trying to figure out whether it’s worth waiting for a specific cosmetic or just grabbing it when available.

It’s not random, but it’s definitely not a set schedule either. Epic uses a "rarity" and "days since last seen" system. Usually, items in the 'Daily' section are on a 30-day rotation, while the 'Featured' items stay longer. If you see something you want, honestly just grab it, because some skins have been gone for over 1,000 days for no apparent reason.
