How to Block YouTube on iPad?

I’m looking for a way to block YouTube on an iPad, especially for kids. What methods work best using Screen Time or other built-in settings?

Screen Time actually works well if you configure it properly. You can block the YouTube app and also restrict youtube.com in Safari under Content Restrictions. That combo usually does the trick.

The most effective method is blocking both the app and the website. Kids often bypass app blocks by using browsers, so make sure Safari and Chrome are covered in Screen Time.

I did this for my 8-year-old. Blocking the app alone wasn’t enough he found YouTube through Google search. Website restriction solved it completely.

Does anyone know if blocking YouTube also blocks YouTube Kids? Or do they need separate restrictions?

I’m not very tech-savvy, but Screen Time was easy enough. Took me about 10 minutes following Apple’s settings.

Honestly, Screen Time works until Apple updates something. If you want zero risk, a DNS-level block is more reliable.

For long-term control, combine Screen Time with restricted app installs and a Screen Time passcode. Without the passcode, kids can’t undo anything even after updates.
