How to connect airpods to iPhone without case?

Can somebody help me to connect my airpodes to my iPhone without a case? I lost my case somewhere in my house and want to connect the buds to my iPhone.

To connect AirPods to your iPhone without the case:

1. Make sure Bluetooth is on on your iPhone.
2. Hold the AirPods near your iPhone and open the Bluetooth settings.
3. Select your AirPods from the list to connect.
