How to Connect Spotify to Alexa?

I’m tired of Alexa defaulting to Amazon Music every time I ask for a song. Can someone explain how to connect spotify to alexa and, more importantly, how to set it as the default music provider? I’ve already linked my Spotify Premium account in the "Music & Podcasts" section, but it still seems hit-or-miss.

Is there a specific way to re-link the skill if it stops working? Also, when looking at how to connect spotify to alexa, are there any restrictions on using Spotify Free accounts versus Premium? Any tips to make the voice recognition more accurate for Spotify playlists would be great.

In order to integrate Spotify with Alexa, open the Alexa app, select Music and Podcasts, and choose the Link New Service, then select Spotify. Enter into your Spotify account and make it your default music service. It is now possible to play Spotify through voice commands.
