How to fix java error 1603?

My Java installer exits with java error 1603 and gives no clear reason. I’ve checked disk space and tried another user account but no luck. If you resolved this before, please share the exact steps (registry cleanup, installer switches, or Microsoft FixIt tools).

O, last week I had the same problem. The trick that was effective to me was:
  1. Make sure that you remove any old versions of Java.
  2. Clean up the remainder of registry entries with the help of CCleaner (or manually in case you are familiar with it).
  3. Run installer with Admin privileges and ensure that windows update is also up to date. The error 1603 has vanished then.
Other times it is simply a disheveled old Java installation that crashes.

O, you see, 1603... the I refuse to tell you why error of Windows.😅

The last thing that succeeded was switching off my antivirus (Avast blocked it) and running the installer in Admin. There is also one more thing that you have to be careful about that is you do not install it in C:\Program Files (x86) because it is 64-bit Java. Classic Windows nonsense.

Frankly speaking, 9 out of ten fixes that can be found online are excessive. I have tried registry cleaning, FixIt tools and a hundred and twenty other hacks--then I just uninstalled all the old Java versions and booted the PC again. Sometimes humans simply desire to make everything too difficult.

I had this error on Windows 10. Steps that worked for me:
  1. Ensure that there is no Java process under task manager.
  2. Uninstall any remaining folders of Java folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files (x86).
  3. Use the offline installer as opposed to the online one.
  4. Reboot before installing.

It was blocked several times, but on the second attempt, it was installed successfully with 1603.

To be honest, I did all that to be safe: cleaned up the remaining Java traces, used installer with administrator privileges... and there was no more error 1603. Windows enjoys making this unnecessary pain.
