How to get rid of split screen on iPad Air?

My little one has no focus in terms of study. I want him to study only when he's using screens which means no unnecessary distractions. I have to get rid of split screen on his iPad Air, how should i do it?

You can disable Split Screen by going to Settings → Home Screen & Multitasking → Multitasking, then turning it off. This removes Split View and Slide Over completely. Once disabled, apps will only open in full screen, which really helps reduce distractions for kids.

Kids + split screen = homework on one side, YouTube “study music” on the other 😅
Disable multitasking and suddenly the iPad becomes a boring study tool again. Works like magic.

I had the same issue with my daughter. Turning off multitasking helped a lot. You can also enable Guided Access for study time. It locks the iPad to one app, so there’s no way to switch or split screens at all.

I disabled Split Screen on my son’s iPad Air last year. Go to multitasking settings and turn everything off. Combined with Screen Time limits, it actually improved his focus more than I expected.

Apple calls it “multitasking, kids call it “maximum distraction mode.
Just switch off multitasking in settings and the problem disappears instantly.

If you don’t want to fully restrict him, you can turn Split Screen off and still allow normal app switching. It’s a good middle ground between freedom and focus.
