How to mass delete emails on gmail app?

Howdy, @Kshitij. Hope you are doing well.

As many don't know about it, we can't delete mass mails on a Gmail mobile application instead of the desktop browser. But you can select/tap each mail to select all and delete it. But this is not the right way to delete the bulk of thousands of emails.

Let's check out the step on how to delete bulk mail with the desktop version.
  • Open Gmail on your browser window.
  • Use the search bar or select a category.
  • Search: older_than:1y, label: promotions, or is: read
  • or click on the "Primary", "Updates", "Social", "Promotions", etc.
  • Click on the checkbox at the left to select or unselect the emails.
  • Finally, click on the delete button to remove all emails.
Note: After deleting the emails from the categories, make sure to permanently remove them from the trash folder.

✨ Pro Tip: To never want those unwanted emails back from the same sender into your mailbox, then unsubscribe from promotional emails or newsletters.

Quick Steps:
  1. Open Gmail app → Tap the sender's profile pic (or search emails).
  2. Select all → Tap "Delete".
  3. For 100+ emails: Use "Select all conversations" (if shown).

Currently, the Gmail app does not have a single "Select All" button for mass deletion. You must long-press one email to enter selection mode, then tap the profile icons of others. For true mass deletion, use a mobile browser in "Desktop Site" mode to access the "Select All" checkbox.

To mass delete emails on the Gmail app, open a folder (like Inbox), tap and hold one email, then tap additional messages to select them. Tap the trash icon to delete. For large cleanups, use the search bar (e.g., “from:example”) to filter messages, then select and delete in batches.

In the Gmail app, open Inbox or a label, tap the sender’s profile picture beside emails to quickly select multiple messages, then tap the trash icon. Use the search bar (like “older_than:1y”) to filter old emails and delete them in organized batches.

Use Gmail’s category tabs (Promotions, Social, Updates) to mass delete similar emails. Open a category, tap and hold one email, select others, then press the delete icon. Repeat until cleared. For faster cleanup, search specific senders and remove emails in grouped sections.

Search for large emails by typing “has:attachment” in the Gmail search bar. Select unwanted messages by tapping profile icons, then tap delete. This helps free storage quickly. You can also search by size using filters to remove space-consuming emails efficiently.

To speed up deletion, enable conversation view in Gmail settings. This groups related emails into threads, allowing you to delete entire conversations at once. Open a thread, tap delete, and remove multiple emails together instead of deleting individual messages separately.
