I’d like to know how to show word count on Google Docs while I’m typing. I’m aware there’s a word count tool, but I’m not sure how to keep it visible on the screen. Can someone explain the steps or shortcuts to enable live word count?

To show word count in Google Docs, go to Tools → Word count, or press Ctrl + Shift + C (Cmd + Shift + C on Mac). You can also check “Display word count while typing” to see it constantly at the bottom left.

The easiest way to check your word count in Google Docs is by clicking on the tools menu and then Word count. There is also a shortcut of Ctrl+Shift+C. To make the typing a little easier, 1 will have to check the box display word count while typing. This will provide you with a little floating window in the bottom of your screen, which will keep a record of your progress in real-time as you type.

I use this all the time. In Google Docs, go to Tools → Word count (or Ctrl+Shift+C / Cmd+Shift+C) and check “Display word count while typing”; it’ll stay visible at the bottom as you write.
