How to update instagram account to the latest version for new features?

I am unable to find some new features on Instagram that my friends have! Should I update my IG account? Can someone tell me how to update Instagram account to the latest version for new features?

To update Instagram, go to the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iPhone), search "Instagram," and tap Update. That’s it!
