I’m wondering if the 9800X3D for 1440p gaming can run modern games smoothly. Can someone share their experience or advice?

The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is an excellent choice for 1440p gaming. Its large 3D V‑Cache boosts frame rates and reduces latency, ensuring smooth performance in CPU‑heavy titles. Ideal for high-FPS or competitive gaming, though less suited for heavy multitasking or productivity workloads, where multicore performance matters more.

I’m planning a new build and debating whether the Intel 9800X3D is a good choice for 1440p gaming. I want high FPS in AAA titles without bottlenecking my GPU. Has anyone tested this CPU for 1440p gaming performance?

From what I’ve seen in benchmarks, the 9800X3D performs very well at 1440p, especially in CPU‑intensive games. It’s optimized for gaming with that extra cache, so you shouldn’t see big drops even in demanding titles.

I paired my 9800X3D with an RTX 4080 and the performance at 1440p is solid — consistent 100+ FPS in most games. If you’re going for high refresh rate gaming, it’s definitely worth considering.

Just remember cooling is important. The 9800X3D runs hot under load, so a good AIO cooler helps maintain peak performance during long sessions.

Also think about futureproofing — with DDR5 and PCIe 5.0 support, the 9800X3D should stay strong for a few more years, especially at 1440p where the GPU also plays a big role.

If you’re on a budget, there are cheaper CPUs that still hold up at 1440p, but if max performance is the goal, the 9800X3D easily outpaces older models in frame‑rate stability.
