I’ve been searching for ways to download music using youtube or mp3 converters, but I’m worried about security and legality. Are youtube or mp3 websites generally safe, or do they come with malware risks? I’d like to understand the safest approach before trying any youtube or mp3 service.

It's basically a minefield. Even if the site itself isn't a "virus," the ads they use are designed to trick you. One wrong click on a fake "Download" button and you’ve got a browser extension tracking everything you type.
