Is Telegram Safe?

Hi everyone, I’m thinking of using Telegram for messaging but I’m concerned about privacy and security. Is Telegram really safe compared to other apps? Are there any risks I should be aware of before using it regularly?

Telegram is generally considered safe for everyday messaging, especially for group chats and media sharing, as it uses strong encryption for messages stored on its servers. However, unlike apps like Signal, Telegram’s default chats are cloud-based and not end-to-end encrypted, which means technically Telegram could access them. For maximum privacy, you should use “Secret Chats”, which are end-to-end encrypted and self-destructible. Risks include potential data breaches, spam, and the fact that metadata (like who you chat with and when) is still stored. Overall, it’s secure for casual use, but for sensitive conversations, stick to Secret Chats or fully end-to-end encrypted apps.

Telegram is generally safe due to encryption and privacy controls, but full end-to-end encryption applies only to Secret Chats. Regular chats are cloud-based, so users should enable security settings and avoid sharing sensitive information.

Telegram is fairly safe for everyday use, but only secret chats are end-to-end encrypted, regular chats aren’t by default. It’s fine for casual messaging, just avoid sharing sensitive info unless you use Secret Chats.

Telegram is generally safe, offering encryption and privacy features, but full end-to-end encryption is only available in Secret Chats. Regular chats are cloud-based, so security depends on your settings and usage.

Message delivery on Telegram is not encrypted. Secret Chats is the only one that is fully end-to-end encrypted. Conversations are saved on the servers of Telegram which can also be accessed on multiple devices yet with less privacy. Unknown links should be avoided and privacy should be turned on to enhance better security.
