What are the ideal social media image sizes?

I’m trying to design posts for different platforms but keep hearing about specific social media image sizes. What are the best dimensions for each site like Instagram, Facebook, and X?

The "ideal" size varies depending on the platform and type of post. For feed posts, 1080 x 1080 pixels (1:1 square) is a good standard. Use 1080 x 1920px (9:16 vertical) for full-screen vertical content (reels and stories). High-resolution should always come first within the aspect ratio of the platform.

Here’s what I usually stick to for clean, sharp posts:

• Instagram: 1080×1080 (square), 1080×1920 (story/reel)
• Facebook: 1200×630 (link), 1080×1080 (post)
• X (Twitter): 1200×675
• LinkedIn: 1200×627 (post), 400×400 (profile)
• YouTube: 1280×720 (thumbnail)
• Pinterest: 1000×1500

These sizes keep everything crisp and properly cropped on most devices.
