My computer recently showed the kmode exception not handled blue screen error. I’m not sure what causes kmode exception not handled or how to troubleshoot it. What steps can I take to fix kmode exception not handled on Windows?

The KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED error in Microsoft Windows occurs when a kernel-mode program crashes due to incompatible drivers, corrupted system files, faulty hardware, or memory issues. Common triggers include outdated drivers, BIOS problems, or conflicts with antivirus software, leading to system instability or blue screen crashes.

It can also be caused by overclocking instability, incompatible updates, or driver conflicts in Microsoft Windows. Faulty RAM, disk errors, or corrupted registry entries may trigger kernel crashes, resulting in the KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED blue screen during startup or while running demanding applications.

Another cause in Microsoft Windows is outdated firmware, damaged system updates, or malware infections disrupting kernel processes. Incompatible peripherals, failing SSDs, or overheating hardware can also trigger KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED errors, leading to sudden blue screen crashes and unexpected system restarts.

Additionally, third-party software conflicts or incomplete driver installations in Microsoft Windows can lead to exceptions. Network driver issues, USB device conflicts, or system cache corruption may further contribute to recurring KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED crashes.

Virtualization conflicts, fast startup glitches, or incompatible system services in Microsoft Windows can trigger the error. Misconfigured power settings or damaged page files may also destabilize kernel operations, causing blue screens.
