Muting someone on Instagram basically lets you hide their posts or stories from your feed without unfollowing them, so they won’t know you’ve muted them. You’ll still stay connected (they can message you, tag you, etc.), but their content just won’t show up unless you manually visit their profile, which is useful if you don’t want to cause awkwardness but also don’t want to see their updates all the time.
