I keep seeing SMT in texts and social media posts. What does SMT meaning stand for, and how is it usually used?

SMT stands for Surface-Mount Technology, a method used in electronics manufacturing where components are mounted directly onto the surface of printed circuit boards (PCBs). SMT allows for smaller, faster, and more efficient electronic assemblies compared to traditional through-hole methods, making it standard in modern electronic device production.

Applicability in various contexts SMT may have various meanings, but in electronic engineering is mostly used to refer to Surface Mount Technology, which is the process of mounting components directly on circuit boards. Elsewhere, it can refer to Simultaneous Multithreading (computing) or Social Media Team (use in the social media).
