What is 5GE on my phone?

I noticed my phone shows 5GE instead of 4G or 5G and I’m confused about what it means. Is it actually faster or just a label? Can someone explain what is 5GE and how it works?

5GE on your phone stands for 5G Evolution. It is a marketing term used by AT&T to show an upgraded 4G LTE network, not true 5G.
