I have been witnessing lots of buzz these days with gening ai and how it can develop lifelike personalities of AI for interactive chats. I'm most interested in the creative aspect of it- the way that the platform manages the memory of its characters and the way in which it creates visualizes during conversations. However, I am a bit of a beginner when it comes to the technical settings. Does anyone have a guide as to how to optimize the "persona" settings to make the characters more real? Also is there a limit as to how many characters you can make on a free account, or should I be looking in to a subscription. I'd love to hear from anyone that has used it for roleposing or story telling!

I've used it for a 3 month long D&D the sort of campaign. The secret is not only in the persona settings, it is in the "First Message." Set the tone, time and immediate tension of that first text. If you begin speaking with "Hi" then the AI mode remains in "customer service mode." As long as you begin with "The rain is pouring and your sword is heavy," then the AI remains in "storyteller mode."

Is it just me or does the free account just seem to be a demo? You get like 5 customized characters before they start asking for your credit card. If you are merely playing around, then free is fine. But in terms of "corporeal" level depth? You are gonna want to pay for that power processing or the replies will be 10 words long and super repetitive.

Look out at "Negative Prompts" for the persona. Since AI can tell the difference between the darkness is and isn't, tell AI what the character isn't. "Not bubbly, not helpful, does not use emojis." It's very easy to grasp the social core of the Border for the model versus the vague "lifelike" descriptions.

If you have a character that is behaving like a goldfish probably because you are unloading the memory with 50 pages of lore. Most of the platforms have a "context window" limit. Stratify the core persona <700 tokens "Memory Pins" Big plot points. Think of it like the sticky notes that sometimes are stuck on the AI's forehead too many and the AI cannot see the actual conversation!
